About Me

Welcome to my blog home! I hope you visit often and join me in a heart journey. I wanted to take a few minutes and share what my blog is about and what each menu tab is about.  My desire really is to be me, and to share what God is teaching me in every area of my life, and to allow every area of my life to help point others to Jesus so that they can be reconciled to Him.

God My Personal Trainer tab is a section where I share about how God has started to teach and train me once I surrendered my health and body over to Him.  No more dieting and no more programs, just me and Him.  Learning to eat only when I am hungry.  He is the Great Physician and the best personal trainer anyone could have.  So this will have all sorts of sharing regarding health and eating and the body that I journey through.

My Heart Lessons tab is a about me studying God's Word and what He teaches me through it as well as me sharing what God is teaching me or has taught me in regards to my priorities in life, Him, my marriage, my mothering, my home and my circle of influence.

Allergy Friendly Foods tab is where I am going to share meal plans and recipes that I incorporate into our family.  I love to share all sorts of recipes that I love and that I try.  My family has multiple food allergies that we live with and so I am constantly learning new ways to cook things and find family favorites to where food allergies are not something we worry about in our family.  We eat things that are delicious and that don't have the allergens in them, so it isn't a home where we are saying, I can't have this or I can't have that.  We work around it and enjoy!  I also would love to start helping other people with food allergies, or just in general, to cook foods for their family that they love and that they can eat all while fitting it into your budget and allergy situation.

Organize Life is where I am working on simplifying every area of my life-aligning it to how God wants it and I have this strong desire to organize and declutter and I never realized I had that.  Something that seems to be creeping up the more and more I get to know myself and my passions.  The home, the meals, the office, the schedules, the e-mail, the money, the...seems like everything.  This will be fun!

The Resources tab explains itself.  It is books and sites and anything God uses in my life that inspire me to be a better person and that teach me.  I will continuously add to these as I read and learn, and watch out because I LOVE to read and learn!

With all that said, a little about me.  I love reading what others bloggers, writers and such say answering questions about every day life and getting to know the person behind the writing.  So I want to share with my readers a little random fun questions to get a glimpse into the heart of the writer behind My Heart & Yours blog.

Who did God use to bring you to the point where you knew you needed Jesus?  It was an orchestra of people and events through my life, but the final point was in college when my friend Hannah invited me to church openly many times with no pressure and one day I just called her and said I wanted to go.  That was the beginning of my life surrendered to Jesus.

What was the best thing that happened to you this past week?  God helped me overcome and press through a very fearful situation and come out on the other side trusting Him even more.

What is your favorite TV show?  American Idol.  Something about music and people being vulnerable and following their dreams just inspires me and I have watched it since it first began.

What are some of your goals for the year ahead?  The main goal I have for the year 2013 is taking care of myself so that I can then be used better in every area and relationship in my life.

Do you have a nickname and if so what is it?  My best friend growing up used to call me Kimbo, she is really the only one who ever gave me a nickname and would still call me that today sometimes.  My sister also calls me Kimberli Andrew...don't ask!

How did you and your husband meet and what made you start going out together?  We went with work friends to a formal New Year's Eve recreation for bar and restaurant employees who missed the real New Year's Eve.  It was cold out.  As we were walking up to the building he gave me his jacket to keep me warm...and the rest is history.

What is the most memorable Bible you have received and why is it meaningful to you?  My grandmommie gave me a Bible when I was 13 years old--it is my favorite though I don't use it often, it is a memorable one because it is what she gave me and she was the biggest Christian role model I had growing up as well as one I remember these days in my own walk with Christ--and it is the one God used to bring me to Him while cleaning out my closet back in 2003...a little treasure.

What time do you get up in the morning?  Usually varies but between 6:30 and 7:30 a.m. though my goal in what I am working towards is 5:30 a.m. so that I can be refreshed before my children wake up and I can start my day in an awesome way---quiet time with God, exercise, plan my day some and shower.

Why did you start this blog?  I did it one day when I felt God had been nudging me to share my heart with others in what He was teaching me.  I feel I have a writing talent and a way with words that He is growing more and more in me.  He also helped me name the blog and it was just a name that was heavy on my heart.  Looking forward to sharing my heart more and more and letting Him take control of the blog as I keep tending to jump ahead and do things "my way" (in more areas than this for sure!) and let Him have the reigns more and more and have fun with it!

What in life do you "just know"?  That God exists and is so so so amazing.
